Iverson Yue
My name is Iverson Yue. I am currently a first year graduate student studying Culture,Communication, and technology program in Georgetown University. I was born and raised in mainland China for my first 18 years. Then I went to Macau, a small but beautiful city, did my undergraduate degree in Marketing. During my undergrad, I was a member of university debate team, where I have acquired a wide range of social issues. And technology and society, was particularly interested to me, that’s how I opened my door to explore science technology and society. And then I read multiple books regrading technology and society, combined with my reflection and critical thinking about modern technology, I become deeply attracted by this unclear but so important and so intimate relationship between human and technology.
I started to make public speech, trying to address different technology issues and raise public awareness based on my limited knowledge and understanding. However, luckily, through the communication with different people form different background, I become more and more comprehensive in this field. Then I decided to abandon my original major, marketing, which I was good at, as I believe that there’s something more important and more meaningful for me to explore. So I applied for CCT program in Georgetown University, fortunately, I was admitted. I truly enjoy and appreciate the flexibility, diversity, and innovation of this program, where I can truly explore this filed and myself. Right now, I am studying and researching primarily on digital technology governance and regulation, such as technology policy for social media platforms and AI. But I’m also exploring the history and philosophy of science and technology, and other kinds of technology, like medicine technology, energy technology, and nuclear weapon.
Beside study and research, I ‘m also a big fan of basketball! I play basketball at least 5 or 6 times a week. I enjoy sunshine, enjoy nature, enjoy everything positive, as I am really trying to balance study and life:) And I would very appreciate communicating with different people from different background on ANY issues, welcome to reach out to me!
